Dynamic Respiratory Endoscope
Newmarket Equine uses a Dynamic Respiratory Endoscope (DRE) to assist our veterinarians to accurately diagnose and treat upper respiratory disorders in horses exercising under normal environmental conditions.
Dynamic obstructions of the upper airway often only occur during high-speed and intense exercise, resulting in events that are likely being under diagnosed or misdiagnosed by resting endoscopy alone. Dynamic Respiratory Endoscopy(DRE) is suited to horses with upper airway disorders, abnormal noise production during exercise, exercise intolerance, and poor performance.
The entire exam is recorded and photographed. The video can be viewed at speed and in slow motion, as well as still images taken using special software. A written report and CD/DVD with all videos and photos of the DRE examination can be provided.
